Liberty Bar

A wealthy Australian playboy under guardianship
William Brown was stabbed to death in Antibes as he was returning from one of his “novenas” of binge drinking during which he sometimes disappeared for several days. On the scene, Maigret retraces its route. He meets two of Brown’s “women” : his mistress, Gina, and her mother. Then he discovers in Cannes the “Liberty Bar”, a refuge for drunks where they game and smoke; this is where Brown came to get drunk. Old Jaja reigns over the place, along with young Sylvie, whom she has taken under her protection.
