La première Enquête de Maigret, 1913

Du rififi dans la haute bourgeoisie…
En revenant de son travail, pendant la nuit du 15 au 16 avril 1913, Justin Minard, un jeune flûtiste des concerts Lamoureux, passant à la hauteur du 17 bis rue Chaptal, entend, un cri de femme suivi d’un coup de feu. Il sonne à la porte de l’hôtel particulier, un maître d’hôtel ouvre de mauvaise grâce et lui affirme que tout est calme. Minard se précipite néanmoins au commissariat de la place Saint-Georges et Maigret, jeune inspecteur, accompagne le commissaire chargé de l’enquête jusqu’à la maison suspecte.

As he passes in front of 17 bis rue Chaptal on his way back from work during the night of 15 to 16 April 1913, Justin Minard, a young flutist of the Lamoureux concerts, hears a woman’s scream followed by a shot. He rings the door of the mansion, a butler opens the door reluctantly and says that everything is calm. Minard nevertheless rushes to the police station on the Place Saint-Georges and Maigret, a young inspector, follows the Commissioner in charge of the investigation to the suspect house.
